Dates that make sense

Add dates to your filenames automatically. Choose the source, format, and position that works for you.

Date Source

Choose which date to use:

Modified Date

When the file was last changed. Good for documents you update frequently.

Created Date

When the file was first created. Best for archival purposes.

Photo Taken Date

Reads EXIF data from photos. When the picture was actually shot.

YYYY-MM-DD

2024-03-15 (ISO standard)

YYYY-MM

2024-03 (year and month only)

MM-DD-YYYY

03-15-2024 (US format)

Date Position

Prefix

2024-03-15-beach-sunset.jpg

Suffix

beach-sunset-2024-03-15.jpg

Prefix is great for sorting chronologically in Finder.
